Frequently Asked Questions

General Queries
I have recently purchased some Parker Knoll furniture and I have a query, what should I do?

In the unlikely event that you experience a problem with your furniture, the first point of contact is the retailer from where you purchased your suite, they will be more than happy to help and advise you.

Can I buy fabric separately, or in addition to my furniture purchase?

Yes, all of our fabrics can be bought separately. As we do not supply direct, they can be purchased through your local Parker Knoll furniture stockist. If you visit, or contact, them with your requirements they will be able to give you a price and place the order.

Do you provide reupholstery services?

Unfortunately this is not a service that we currently offer. We recommend that you use an upholsterer that is affiliated with the Association of Master Upholsterers. Further details can be found online on their website www.upholsterers.co.uk

Do you supply arm caps?

Specifically tailored arm caps are available on a wide range of models from our Classic Collection.

Why can I not find prices on your website?

The Parker Knoll range is made to order and tailored to your individual preferences, this means that the RRP may vary dependant on the price band of the fabric or leather you choose, your chosen comfort interiors, and detailed finishes.
To get an accurate RRP we advise that you contact your nearest retailer.

Can you change the size of the legs?

All of our legs are made to support the model to which it belongs, therefore altering the height will have an impact on the overall sit and comfort of your Sofa or Chair. For that reason you cannot alter the size of any of our legs.

We do offer different types of legs and wood finishes so you can personalise the look of your Parker Knoll, this varies by model. Our brochure and website list the options available for each model.

Is my suite fire retardant?

All of our fabrics are tested in line with the fire retardancy regulations. This information can be found on the back of the Swatch in store or on the back of any of the free fabric samples that you can order.

I am worried that my furniture purchase will struggle to get through my door when delivered

Please contact your retailer. They will be delivering your furniture to you and have years of experience in making deliveries into houses and flats of all shapes and sizes. They will be happy to advise.

Caring for your Sofa
Do you offer advice on how to clean and care for your fabric upholstery?

With a little care and a few tips from us, your furniture should last for years to come.
We offer all of our customers a care booklet which contains all the information you need to ensure your furniture continues to look fabulous.

You can view this here:

I think there is a fault with my velvet/chenille sofa?

Velvet and Chenille fabrics have a high pile as a result of a double weaving process. Consequently this pile may cause fabrics to shade, show pressure marks or flatten. These qualities are unavoidable and as such should not be regarded as a fault but instead a unique characteristic of these natural fabrics.

To learn how to care for your upholstery, please read our Care Booklet.

I think there is a fault with my leather sofa?

It is important to understand the characteristics of leather when choosing to purchase this type of Sofa or Chair. Leather suites are classic and timeless; the high quality, natural and hard wearing leathers we offer look great and are really easy to care for. It is key to note that leather will move over time, may display traces of the past such as healed scars, insect bites, growth marks and veins. These are all hallmarks of hide and in no way detract from the wearing qualities of leather.

Can you supply old interiors and old mechanism parts?

At Parker Knoll we are committed to a culture of continuous improvement and therefore we are constantly reviewing and refining our ranges. For this reason we cannot supply any materials from models or specifications that are no longer in the range.

Fabrics & Upholstery
How do I care for my leather suite?

Dust weekly with a clean soft cloth. Clean quarterly by wiping over with a lukewarm mild solution or pure natural soaping agent, using a damp cloth or soft sponge in a circular motion. If you are using a sponge, work the sponge to achieve a lather; it is better to use the suds to clean with.

Any accidental spills should be mopped up immediately with an absorbent tissue or a soft, clean cloth. Always work from the outside of the spill towards the centre, to prevent it spreading. This is important to avoid a stain. Then follow the ‘soaping’ cleaning procedure.

Never use:- polishes, creams, detergents, leather food, solvents, varnishes, white spirit or stain removers. They will damage the leather beyond repair. We advise that in the event of severe soiling, you should consult your original retailer where you purchased your furniture.

How do I care for my velvet/chenille suite?

Brush off any dust with a soft bristled hairbrush or cloth in the direction of the nap. You can vacuum with a specific attachment for velvet or chenille to remove fuzz formed on a fabric. Never use any soaping agents or detergents as this may damage the fabric.

Are you able to have any fabric on any sofa or chair from the Parker Knoll collection?

We offer a wide range of fabrics and leathers to support all of our Sofa and Chair collections. Most of our fabrics can be used on all models, however, due to the make up or design of some there are a few restrictions. Your retailer can advise you when selecting fabrics.

Our showroom can be found in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. It is on the third floor of the Harrington Mills building in Leopold Street, the postcode is NG10 4QE. Visits are by appointment only booked via https://www.parkerknoll.co.uk/showroom/
There is general Visitors Car Park at the far end of Leopold Street on the left. You will see a tall chimney, go round to the other side of its base. There is a glass door in the main mill building, press the buzzer, saying you are there for Parker Knoll. Once let in, use the lift to go up to the 3rd Floor to find our showroom.

Can I buy items from your showroom?

Unfortunately you cannot purchase via our showroom, this can be done via retailers nationwide stocking a range of Parker Knoll furniture.

Whilst in our showroom you will have access to our in-house Designer who will help you create the perfect suite for your home. Our Designer will help you choose from our range of options, offering expert advice on fabrics and leathers, comfort interiors and wood finishes.

Our Designer will give you detailed information on the Parker Knoll you have created, and inform you of your nearest stockist, meaning you can easily visit your chosen retailer to make your purchase.

Can you tell me where I can find my nearest retailer?

Simply go to Find a Retailer, type in your postcode and we will provide you with a list of your 5 nearest Parker Knoll stockists including Centres of Excellence where you will find a much wider range of Parker Knoll products.

I cannot find a retailer locally who stocks the model that I wish to view.

Stockists of Parker Knoll furniture select their own preferences, and number of models, to display in their stores from the wide range that is available to them. Therefore, some models will have less distribution and may not be stocked nearby.

Motion Furniture
Is there a weight limit for motion furniture?

Yes, the weight limit is 140kg/22 stone

Do I need to leave any additional space away from the wall to ensure my recliner furniture can reach full recline?

Our recliner furniture has been developed to require minimal space to recline in order to enhance the space in your room. We do advise that you leave 150mm to ensure your furniture can recline smoothly.

On recliner furniture do I have the option of which side my controls are on?

On our Rise & Recline Chairs you can choose to have your handset on either left or right hand facing side.
However, on other recliner chairs it is always on the left hand facing side, operated by the right hand of the sitter. Our motion sofas always have motion at both ends, therefore have both a left hand and a right hand facing operation.
