Do you provide reupholstery services?

We recommend that you use an upholsterer that is affiliated with the Association of Master Upholsterers. Further details can be found online.

I have recently purchased a Sofa and I have a query, what should I do?

In the unlikely event that you experience a problem with your furniture, please contact the original retailer where you purchased your suite.

Caring for your Sofa
Do you offer advice on how to clean and care for your fabric upholstery?

We recommend you carefully vacuum your upholstery at least once a week to keep it in good condition. Accumulated dust and dirt can accelerate the wear of your Sofa and cause colours to dull.

We also recommend that you do not use any soap or detergents on fabrics as upholstery fabric are not 100% colourfast. Excessive wetting could cause shrinkage. Minor soiling can be removed by using proprietary dry foam cleaner available from most furniture stores. Please test before applying to the whole area and follow instructions for use.

It is advisable to have any heavily soiled upholstery cleaned by a Professional Service.

Can you supply old interiors and old mechanism parts?

At Parker Knoll we are committed to a culture of continuous improvement and therefore we are constantly reviewing and refining our ranges. For this reason we cannot supply any materials from models or specifications that are no longer in the range.

I am thinking about purchasing velvet or chenille upholstery is there anything I should be aware of?

Velvet and Chenille fabrics have a high pile as a result of a double weaving process. Consequently this pile may cause fabrics to shade, show pressure marks or flatten. These qualities are unavoidable and as such should not be regarded as a fault but instead a unique characteristic of these natural fabrics.

I am thinking about purchasing leather upholstery is there anything I should be aware of?

It is important to understand the characteristics of leather when choosing to purchase this time of Sofa or Chair. Leather suites are classic and timeless; the high quality, natural and hard wearing leathers we offer look great and are really easy to care for. It is key to note that leather will move over time, may display traces of the past such as healed scars, insect bites, growth marks and veins. These are all hallmarks of hide and in no way detract from the wearing qualities of leather.

Fabrics & Upholstery
Is there any specific advice for Leather upholstery?

Dust weekly with a clean soft cloth. Clean quarterly by wiping over with a lukewarm mild solution or pure natural soaping agent, using a damp cloth or soft sponge in a circular motion. If you are using a sponge, work the sponge to achieve a lather; it is better to use the suds to clean with.

Any accidental spills should be mopped up immediately with an absorbent tissue or a soft, clean cloth. Always work from the outside of the spill towards the centre, to prevent it spreading. This is important to avoid a stain. Then follow the ‘soaping’ cleaning procedure.

Never use:- polishes, creams, detergents, leather food, solvents, varnishes, white spirit or stain removers. They will damage the leather beyond repair. We advise that in the event of severe soiling, you should consult your original retailer where you purchased your furniture.

Is there any specific advice for Velvet and Chenille upholstery?

Brush off any dust with a soft bristled hairbrush or cloth in the direction of the nap. You can vacuum with a specific attachment for velvet or chenille to remove fuzz formed on a fabric. Never use and soaping agents or detergents as this may damage the fabric

Can you provide me with fabric samples?

We are very pleased to offer a free sample service. Simply go to Fabrics, browse the collections and select the fabrics you would like to order. We will then send you your sample pack in the post within 2 working days.

Do you supply arm caps?

Specifically tailored arm caps are available on a wide range of models, if arm caps are purchased with your Sofa or Chair they will be supplied fitted to the furniture

Are you able to have any fabric on any Sofa or Chair from the Parker Knoll collection?

Can you change the size of the legs?

All of our legs are made to support the model to which it belongs, therefore altering the height will have an impact on the overall sit and comfort of you Sofa or Chair For that reason you cannot alter the size of any of our legs

Fire retardant information

All of our fabrics are tested in line with the fire retardancy regulations. This information can be found on the back of the swatch instore or if you take advantage of our free online sample service, you will receive detailed fabric information with your samples.

What guarantees do you offer?

We are very proud to offer an industry leading 25 years on your frame and frame construction guarantee, this guarantee cover integral legs only.
We also offer a 5 year guarantee on motors and mechanisms, 1 year on fibres and fillings and a 1 year guarantee on fabrics.

Is there a weight limit for motion furniture?

Do I need to leave any additional space in my room to ensure my recliner furniture can reach full recline?

Our recliner furniture has been developed to require minimal space to recline in order to enhance the space in your room. We do advise that you leave 150mm to ensure your furniture can recline smoothly.

On recliner furniture do I have the option of which side my handle is on?

You can choose to have your handle on either left or right hand facing on our Rise and Recline chair range only.

Can I buy items from your showroom

We offer a lovely service at our showroom, all our products are available to view and you can take brochures and fabric samples away with you. You cannot purchase from the showroom, but we are happy to advise you on your nearest retailer who will be more than happy to assist you with your purchase.
