How to Decorate Your Home This Easter

The Easter weekend is one of those rare holidays – rivalled only by Christmas – where almost everyone in the country has the opportunity to stop work and spend a little quality time with their family and friends. From Egg hunts and spring walks to long indulgent lunches, these four days are the perfect opportunity to catch-up, re-group and have a little fun.

If it’s your turn to host, you’ll most likely be looking for easy ways to get your home looking lovely, which don’t require a complete décor overhaul. With this in mind, we’ve pulled out a few decorating ideas that will have your home Easter-ready in no time at all.

From tulips and daffodils to cherry blossom and forsythia, beautiful blooms are readily available at this time of year, either from the garden or a local florist. We love the idea of re-purposing an advent wreath base to create a spring decoration bursting with flowers and foliage. Use as a table centrepiece or hang on your front door to welcome guests in style.

The Easter table often becomes the focus for celebrations so if you’re going to decorate anything, let it be this. Bring out your best tableware and include all the trimmings, from table runners and napkins to pretty salt cellars and pepper grinders. Details will make all the difference here; from a personalised name place to a small chocolate gift placed on each plate, small touches such as this will be sure to delight.

Sideboards and tables make a good spot for a pretty display and it doesn’t take much to get them looking lovely. A vase of flowers and a bowl of chocolate eggs will set the scene well and can be built up depending on how much of a show you want to create. We think that this Easter tree, made simply from branches and adorned with wooden eggs looks seriously impressive.

Occupy young ones with an afternoon of egg decorating. Whether you’re looking to blow the yolks out of real eggs or opt for hardier wooden ones, they’ll provide hours of fun and will look gorgeous when placed all together in a bowl. For a luxe twist, why not make patterns using glue and then dip them in glitter?
