4 Cooling Summer Smoothies

The past week has been a dream – Just the kind of weather we Britons hope for during the summer months (minus the odd spot rain)!

Being as British as we are, we find ourselves questioning why it’s so warm – so here are a few smoothie recipes to keep you cool throughout summer; perfect for a BBQ with your family.

If we’re going to melt under the sunshine, we’d much rather melt into a puddle of smoothie joy, wouldn’t you?

Mango & Watermelon

Melon and watermelon instantly make us think of holidays by the beach, relaxing and reading a great novel! Make this simple refreshing combination at home, by simply blending with ice cubes and 1tbs of sugar to add a touch of sweetness.

Strawberry & Gin

For an added tipple, why not add a slash of gin into the mix? Plant Based Pixie has it spot on with a Strawberry & gin smoothie, containing a hint of lime juice to add a slight sharpness, and sugar free tonic water for a fizzy kick.

Frozen Iced Tea

Get your morning caffeine boost in disguise! Brew strong black tea, and mix with orange sorbet for a simple 2 minute smoothie. Mix and match with flavoured sorbet to suit your taste.

If you’re more of a coffee person, mix 2 shots with almond milk and frozen cherries for a bitter sweet combination.

Green Power Smoothie

We love this superfood smoothie, packed full of cool citrus flavours. It’s super healthy too, containing  all the fibre and omega 3 ‘good’ fats needed to start your day.

Whatever the weather, any of these chilled drinks will be just the ticket to help you make the most of the fine British summer.
