Get the Look: Vintage Elegance

Recently we have seen trends in interior design lean toward a new-found love for upcycling classic vintage pieces with which to embellish our homes.

Whether it’s your parent’s beloved jewellery box, or your great aunt’s original Parker Knoll wing chair, what better way to give your home a personal touch than by furnishing with items that will take you on a trip down memory lane?

In this week’s blog, we’re taking a look at our favourite ways of incorporating these pieces into your interior décor, achieving an on-trend shabby chic vintage look.

Floral Seating

This fresh scheme works wonders on this bright entrance hall, and is created by sticking to a classic colour theme. The baby blue wall is a serene back drop to this graceful chair, and the bold greens contrast beautifully with the pastel pink to give the décor a relaxed feel.

If you don’t already own a timelessly styled accent chair, why not invest in a vintage-inspired classic, and create your own family heirloom?

Feature Walls

How you decorate your walls can have a great impact on achieving a vintage look. To dramatize a bedroom, why not fill the walls with large floral prints of timeless rose and carnation designs! Pair with rustic white floorboards or parquet and traditional paintings, maintaining a soft palette to create a calming space.

Grand Features

For a more modern-vintage style, combine cool greys and whites with bold copper and gold accents. We love this large elegant framed mirror. Perched on top of a dresser bearing straight lines and marble legs, this space is sophisticated and elegant yet practical.

If the ceiling height isn’t to your advantage, simply stand the mirror on the floor and lean against the wall – the ideal addition to any bare hallway!

Get Creative with Colours

We adore the impact this colourful staircase has on this hallway. The character of the walls and floor boards are revived with this pop of colour.

Create your own stair gallery with various samples of floral patterned wallpaper. Make sure to arrange your designs before fixing them to the steps, this will ensure you achieve the perfect blend of colour along with a hint of vintage charm.

Cool, Calm and Collected

Denim Blue is Dulux’s colour of the year for 2017 – and we think this tranquil scheme above is the prime way to incorporate this colour into your home. It takes us back to sitting in the countryside in springtime, surrounded by blue skies and daisy chains – don’t you agree?

Create your own blissful reading space by drawing inspiration from Great British gardens. Prints of spring blooms combined with cuttings on your favourite seasonal flowers creates a clean, contemporary space.

The shabby-chic look is certainly one of our favourites for 2017, and means you can display your sentimental heirlooms proudly in a beautiful space.

If you have a home that oozes vintage elegance, share your vintage décor with us on social media – we’d love to hear your top tips for achieving the perfect look!
