A New Life for Vintage Parker Knoll Classics

A New Life for Vintage Parker Knoll Classics

Here at Parker Knoll, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a rich heritage of over 148 years of furniture making experience. We have continued to remain renowned for producing Sofas and Chairs of superior quality and craftsmanship since 1869.

As a result of the inspirational designs of a particular handwriting, and a rise in the upcycling trend, we often find loyal customers that still hold their vintage Parker Knoll Sofa or Chair close to their heart.

This week’s blog is paying homage to many of the timeless designs still loved and cherished by families today.

Some are still produced in our Nottinghamshire factory, so make sure to take a look at our collections pages to find your ideal accent chair, and design your very own bespoke family heirloom!

Penshurst Wing Chair

Possibly one of Parker Knoll’s most famous Winged Chairs, the Penshurst Wing Chair, has been in production since the early 1970’s.

Poor Cow Upholstery has made a beautiful job of reupholstering this classic in a vibrant yellow that brings a spot of sunshine to this midnight blue hallway.

Why not design your own Penshurst chair using our Design Your Parker Knoll tool to find a modern style that suits your home?

The Ashby Wing Chair (PK 991)

This peach Ashby Wing Chair, launched mid 1970’s, is the ideal addition to a retro scheme. The famous Parker Knoll wing back signature is paired with an exposed wooden frame to create a unique piece of furniture.

Spotted over on Lisa Oreilly’s Instagram page, the Ashby Wing Chair is brought right into the 21st century with the addition of a fashionable monochrome herringbone scatter cushion.

Orleans Rocker (PK 1039)

The lively patchwork gives a colourful life to the solid mahogany frame of this Orleans Rocker, reupholstered by Kelly Swallow. We can just imagine relaxing on this peaceful balcony on a beautiful Sunday afternoon – bliss!

The Wingfield chair is a 1961 classic and has had a new lease of life, thanks to Charles of Lloyd, in a calming blue checked fabric.

Does this chair look familiar? The characteristics of the Wingfield have been modernised in the design of the Adele chair, available in the Maison collection.

Russel Orthopaedic Low Back Chair (PK 1070)

Russel Orthopaedic Chair was a true innovation in the world of upholstery! This chair was developed as a result of six years of research & development by Parker Knoll and Russell Manoy, a leading industrial designed and oergomist.

The denim blue of this Camira wool, reupholstered by Mick Sheridan Upholstery, is bang on trend for 2017, and the ideal throwback piece to match a scandi-inspired scheme.

If you have a Parker Knoll classic, passed down through generations, or even a Sofa or Chair that has started its life as your own, we’d love to hear from you!
