Interior Trends for 2017

Interior Trends for 2017

Last week, we once again exhibited at the January Furniture Show!

This year we launched a very exciting new collection, this new range offers supreme comfort and modern motion and is due to hit stores in the Spring – watch this space! We hope you’re as excited as we are!

On our tour around the show we saw some very beautifully styled stands. From textures and patterns, to colours and coppers, we weren’t short of inspiration! So, we’ve pulled together some of the most popular interior trends from the January Furniture Show that we think will be big for 2017.

Jewelled Tones

Jewelled tones were the star of the show within upholstery!

Splashed on the walls, or dotted on accent pieces, these rich and luxurious hues gave a royal theme for 2017’s collections. To enhance a subtle look, bold accents were used to accompany minimalist schemes. Mixing and matching colours and patterns gave a more relaxed feel, yet set the perfect mood for each showcased piece.

Tropical Prints

Tropical prints stem from our desire to reconnect with nature in 2017. We found this particular theme to be very popular on both fabric and wallpaper.

Brands created a focal point with natural jungle-inspired scatter cushions and wallpapers. Pastel, nature-themed wallpaper added a feminine touch – perfect for a room with plenty of natural light!

Quirky Lighting

Individuality was key with this trend. Each lighting brand stood out for their distinct designs. Upholstery brands also used quirky lighting fixtures to perfectly accompany their 2017 collections.

We used a line of hanging pendent lights on the Parker Knoll stand to beautifully accompany our brand new collection. This feature was the ideal way to break up the space, whilst keeping the stand feeling open and bright.

The upcycling trend continues into the new year. With baskets working wonders on ceiling light fittings, and tea cups making an elegant vintage lighting piece that was unique, yet traditional.

Modern brands, however, used simple bold light shades that injected a burst of blocked colour to neutral schemes. This particular look is simple yet effective, and easy to replicate in your own home!

Tactile Textures

Soft velvets are a big trend for 2017. We spotted a magnitude of plush textiles, that were tactile to the touch, and luxurious to look at, appealing to all the senses! Layering patterned materials were another inspiring way to create depth on a stand.

Buttoned back detailing, pleated arms and quality velvets were all over the show. As shown below on our Wardlow chair, this is another elegant look within upholstery that continues to grow in popularity year on year.
